Health care fraud continues to be a significant priority for the Department of Justice (DOJ), as demonstrated by significant case resolutions in 2014. Timothy Heaphy brings vast experience as a prosecutor and a white collar defense lawyer to his practice, which involves crisis management, internal investigations, compliance and trial practice.

Prior to joining Hunton & Williams LLP, Tim was the United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, serving as the chief law enforcement officer responsible for prosecuting federal crime and defending the United States in civil litigation.

During his tenure as United States Attorney, Tim served on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (“AGAC”), advising the Attorney General on emerging policy issues, served as Chairman of the AGAC’s Subcommittee on Enforcement Coordination, Victims Issues and Community Outreach, and was a member of the Subcommittees on Criminal Practice, Violent and Organized Crime and Civil Rights. He has testified before Congressional committees several times on issues ranging from guns to synthetic drugs to sentencing reform.
